Brain4Net joined Open Platform for NFV Project (OPNFV). OPNFV is open source reference platform by Linux Foundation intended to accelerate the introduction of new products and services using NFV. Launched in September 2014, the OPNFV project is supported by 60 member companies and united over 100 developers. The community recently delivered its first software release, Arno, which sets the foundation necessary to build the NFV reference platform.

“Collaboration is key to accelerating the open source software development of NFV, and with Arno now available, we’re seeing that vision materialize,” said Heather Kirksey, director, OPNFV. “We look forward to the contributions our newest members will bring to the community with their knowledge of FPGA technologies and orchestration and control solutions for SDN and VNF.”

“We’re excited to become part of the OPNFV community and share our expertise to speed the implementation of open source NFV,” said Oleg Schapov, CEO, Brain4Net. “We realize the power that open source software has in bringing innovative network solutions to market faster, and we’re eager to bring Brain4Net’s expertise in SDN, NFV and Orchestration to the project.”

Brain4Net plans to ship the first customer release of its B4N NFV Platform before the end of August. B4N NFV platform is a comprehensive solution, which includes Openstack as an engine, B4N SWOS as a virtual switch for forwarding traffic, and B4N Orchestrator as a service orchestration tool. The goal of the platform is to have VNFs running in Docker containers with very fast provisioning, and to provide carrier grade network connectivity to these containers. Platform enables easy porting for partners’ applications. The dynamic service chaining is provided for all the services running on the platform.
